What is a Spiritual Practice

Blog

There are countless activities and rituals that could be deemed spiritual practices. Anything that allows you to quiet your mind and connect with your deepest self could be considered a spiritual practice. Some ideas are meditation, conscious breathing, journaling, reading spiritual texts, yoga, going for a walk, painting, dancing, writing in a gratitude journal, singing/chanting and playing golf.

A daily spiritual practice refers to any ritual that you perform each day to nurture your deep inner being. A spiritual practice quiets the mind and brings you into a state of peace and/or harmony with yourself. A spiritual practice can take many forms, but it is not the form that matters so much as the intent. In fact, a spiritual practice does not even need to be explicitly spiritual to be effective. It simply needs to be something that helps you turn inward and connect with your own truth and purpose.

Self-inquiry, self-awareness and self-acceptance are the roots and foundation of a daily spiritual practice. As you deepen your connection to your Source, the Essence of who you are will expand and grow. When we practice a spiritual practice, we can connect back to our Higher Self, we can remove ourselves from the constant chatter, emotions and our physical form.

That is where we are pure love, we know its infinite and where there is a stream of ideas coming to us, to assist us on our journey.

Some Conscious Spiritual Practices

1. Taking a Conscious Loving Breaths. Breathing exercises are the best medicine mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. A couple of times a day start to consciously breathe, do a couple of deep belly breathing techniques and before long you will stop thinking of your body as something that carries you from place to place, as you’ll realise your spirit is carrying your body!

2. Daily Gratitude. Study after study have shown the importance of gratitude and it’s essential, positive impact on our social, physical, psychological and emotional well-being. These modern scientific results are merely a capstone on the echoes of age-old wisdom which has been whispering about the importance of an attitude of gratitude since the beginning. By consciously appreciating everything in your life, your perspective will begin to shift, assisting you to realise that you probably have more than you require.

3.Dance Like No-One is Watching. Yes, that is right, it’s time for you to get off the couch and dance like no-one is watching. It does not matter if you think you can dance or not, it’s time for you to start receiving all the benefits that numerous studies have shown, namely that dancing can help you lose weight, stay flexible, reduce stress, make friends, feel great and it’s a perfect way to start and end each day. Turn on your favourite music and start moving those hips as it’s a great way to keep your body and mind healthy. We store so much stale energy in our hips, so let’s shake it out! Start reaping the many Physical and Spiritual health benefits from dancing today

4. Seeks Your Answers From Within. Initially, looking for answers from within may seem a little strange, though the more you practice the daily exercise of asking yourself your deep and meaningful questions, the easier your answers will flow to you. So much so, that self-checking in will become an automatic way of life. You’ll be surprised with how more easily your Dream Life is created, just through this one simple daily practice!!

Start with these three questions (or come up with your own):

  • What did I do today that I will do the same next time?
  • What did I do today that I will do differently next time?
  • What did I learn about the world, the people around me and myself today?

5. Meditate Rather Than Medicate Meditating is an amazing way to start and finish each day. Meditation is about training your mind to focus and concentrate. There are many studies that show what happens to our brains when we meditate. There are also just as many different ways to meditate as there are studies. Start researching the most ideal one for you. Just know that you can meditate. Everyone can. Keep searching until you have found your most ideal one. Then you’ll tap into Pure Consciousness. That’s the field of infinite possibilities; the field of pure potentiality; the field of intention orchestrating its own fulfillment; the field of pure creativity; the field of observer effect; its everything right in that gap………….. between this world and our spiritual home!

6. Balance Your Chakra’s. A great way to create balance in your life is to tune into your chakras each day. You have seven main energy centres that run through your body. They begin in your sacrum and run up your spine ending just outside the top of your head. Each chakra represents life issues, corresponding to specific areas of your body. With each of the associated body parts holding information about you and your life. It’s no coincidence that there’s seven main chakras and seven days to each week. Ideally create an easy 5-10 minute daily ritual to balance a particular chakra.

The Great Resignation

Blog

For the last 20 months, we have all had our lives turned upside down. For many, we have lost connection to our extended families, friends, colleagues, workplace and our local haunts.

We have done things, that we did not think we would ever have to do.

Though, out of the chaos, many great things are emerging.

Well, great for some, not so ideal for others!

Today I’m specifically referring to the Great Resignation.

It’s a monumental occasion, mainly because, most of us have no idea how to cope with loss.

This is a trend, where millions of people, from frontline workers to senior executives, are voluntarily resigning from their jobs. According to recent research by Microsoft, more than 40 per cent of the global workforce are considering leaving their employers this year.

What impact would 40 per cent of your employees leaving have on your business?

It is a question that all companies need to be asking.

Mainly because the majority (close to 100%) of all employees have started asking questions along these lines:

  • Why should I work for you?
  • What purpose does this organisation serve?
  • Why can’t I choose how and when I work?
  • Why can’t work fit in with my life rather than the other way around?
  • What does success even look like for me now?

As a former CFO of a publicly listed company, I know how devastating the impact can be from The Great Resignation ~ for both employers and employees.

Lets Celebrate You

Blog

Let’s Take Some Time Out To Celebrate You

Do you take time to celebrate all the things in your life?

So often we complete one thing and then quickly move onto the next. Very Rarely taking the time to celebrate what we have achieved. How far we have come.

With this in mind here are six easy things you can do, today………. to Celebrate YOU and YOUR LIFE.

1. Be Kind to You. Make a concerted effort to treat yourself as your best friend. Listen to the way you talk to yourself, look after yourself and then ask “If I treated my best friend this way, would they always be my best friend? Make your wants and needs a priority and focus.

2. Surround Yourself with Beauty. Buy yourself some flowers (or something that brings you love and joy). Put it in a prominent place in your home or office where you can enjoy them. Maybe this can even become a weekly or monthly ritual.

3.Turn it Up. Put on your favourite music and start dancing. Feel how amazing you are. Feel into the beauty of you. The real you, the one that deserves to be celebrated on a daily basis.

4. Write it Down. Write a list or a letter highlighting all of the things about you that you’re grateful for. Look back at all the things you have accomplished and how far you have come.

.5. Gift You with the Greatest Gift. Time is our most precious commodity. Wake an hour earlier than usual and spend it doing the things that bring you Joy, Love and Fulfillment.

6. Have a Celebrate Us Gathering. Get a group of friends together to celebrate each other and your friendship. Bring your own favourite dish to share as you all share what you love about each other. This is the greatest gift you can give each other.

Now, that is a WRAP for Sun Day the 24th of October 2021: Your Day to Shine.

Start to celebrate you and watch how many more things you have to celebrate

Have an amazing week. Make it Meaningful Memorable and Magical.

Stay well and always remember that there is great love here for you.

Bringing Joy to YOU

Blog

Life can be a little challenging at the moment. There seem to be so much happening that is beyond our control. Outside our circle of Influence.

Though the one thing that you get to choose each day is how you live your life.

The way that you can seek and then enjoy all the Joyous Moments every day has to offer.

Lots of people confuse joy with happiness, and although they are closely related and often occur simultaneously, these feel-good emotions aren’t synonymous.

Happiness is an emotion that brings bursts of intense pleasure, excitement, and satisfaction, while joyfulness is a stronger, longer-term state that results in feelings of inner peace and contentment.

Whereas happiness can be easily manufactured, joy comes through setting up the right conditions for it to suddenly appear.

Today we are exploring ways to set up the right conditions, assisting you to find Joy in your life every day ~ even when life feels overwhelming and awful.

Your Joyful Moments Matter!

  1. Understand Your Life Lessons. When we are in the thick of things, it can be hard to find a deeper meaning as to WHY things happen and why they are as they are. Though life is a Journey of LESSONS. Breaking down this word guides you ~ When you look for the lesson there will be “Less-On You!” Deep dive into the lesson from all that has happened to you, then with a new perspective, watch how JOYOUS your life becomes.
  2. Look For Your Joyful Moments Every Day. Joyful moments are to be treasured. They might be moments that are instantaneous and unexpected. They might be moments of celebration or success after a long period of hard work. Joyful moments can be ecstatic or they can be quiet times of inner satisfaction. Each day we all have Joyful Moments. Though sometimes we miss them because we may be always focusing on all the other moments that did not bring us JOY. The more you focus on and are grateful for the Joyous Moments, the more Joyful Moments you’ll experience throughout each day.
  3. Create Your Passion Project. Your joy comes from what you feel passionate about. Your passions light you up and they are steppingstones to finding your purpose in life. Do you have a Passion Project? Now is the time for you to start one. Spend some time deciding what it will be. If you have a few and are not sure which one to start first, let your JOY Meter be the guide………………… Go with the one that makes you the most excited and full of ‘feel good’ hormones.
  4. Check-In with ‘Yesterday Me’. Many times, we do not realise just how far we have come. Especially if we are in the habit of comparing ourselves to others. When we decide that the only person, we will compare ourselves to is “Yesterday Me” that is when we begin to realise that we have a lot in our life to Celebrate and feel Joyous about. From this new perspective make a list of things you’d like to enhance in your life. Weekly keep a track of your progress with these things. Celebrate and notice how much your Joy Meter keeps rising.
  5. Release Your Past Baggage. Negative experiences and pain from the past can create barriers to accessing joy, It is hard to deep dive into the experiences, though when you choose a different perspective, like “everything happens for me” you can begin to see that you are who you are today, because of these experiences. Healing the past, is the best way for you to grow, evolve and thrive in your life. Bringing an abundant amount of Joy to each day. Are you ready to release the heavy baggage you’ve been carrying for probably way to long?
  6. Choose Your Authentic Self. It’s so easy to lose one’s true self in all the noise of the world we live in. Spend some time reconnecting to what brings you JOY. Then set some guidelines, some boundaries, that from now on, you will only be engaging in activities that bring you JOY. This may take some time to happen, though start planning today to ensure this becomes your reality in the not too distant future.
  7. Seek Out Positive People. Our moods and vibration are infectious. When you desire more Joy in your life, seek out people who are looking for the same. The beauty of this ~ together you will create many more Joyous Moments.
  8. Get Your Nature Fix. Nature is our greatest gift. It will always lift our mood and assist us to find JOY in the moment. Notice how your feel when you spend time in nature each day. Schedule some NOW!

Now, that is a WRAP for Sun Day the 10th of October 2021: Your Day to Shine.

Start to notice your magical Joyous Moments. Then notice with awareness how all areas of your life become more JOYOUS.

There are no coincidences in life!

Have an amazing week. Make it Meaningful Memorable and Magical.

Stay well and always remember that there is great love here for you.

With Love and Gratitude
