Welcome to the “Gratitude” edition of “It’s Sun Day: Your Day to Shine”

Today, the 25th April is Anzac Day. A national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand that broadly commemorates all Australians and New Zealanders “who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations” and “the contribution and suffering of all those who have served.

To honour our ANZAC’s today’s Sun Day theme is Gratitude. It is with Love and Gratitude that we give thanks to all who have served. Your sacrifice has allowed us to be able to live the way that we do.

Enjoy your Gratitude Sun Day. Live in Gratitude. Today and All Days!

Now is the time to Stop and Be Grateful For Everything You Have and Don’t Have in Your Life

Firstly, let’s take a moment to remember all of the ANZAC’s. Be grateful for their service and all that they have done to ensure our safety and life.

Read the poem by the English poet and writer Laurence Binyon :

They shall grow not old,

as we that are left grow old;

Age shall not weary them,

nor the years condemn.

We will remember them

Now it’s time for you to spend Today’s “Me Time,” creating or enhancing your Gratitude Practice

Your Voice Matters

Welcome to “Your Voice Matters” edition of “It’s Sun Day: Your Day to Shine”

Do you give yourself permission to use your voice?

Are you Saying what you want to say? Or are you holding back, then going into resentment for not being and doing what you’d love to be doing?

Well, today may be the day that things will change for you!

Say what you want to say, Today and All Days!

Now is the time to Say what you’d like to Say

Are you holding yourself back from saying what they want to say?

Have you ever listened to John Mayer’s song Say?

Have no fear for giving in

Have no fear for giving over

You’d better know that in the end It’s better to say too much

Than never to say what you need to say again

Even if your hands are shaking

And your faith is broken

Even as the eyes are closing

Do it with a heart wide open (a wide heart)

Say what you need to say

 

After listening and then reading these words, I began to think about how so many people, especially women, continually hold back from saying what they need to say and then wonder why they are living an unfulfilled and meaningless life.

It’s time for change this.

With all of this in mind, today’s ME Time activity is for you to spend some time deep diving into all areas of your life, lookin for things that you have been not saying. Positve or negative. Here are some areas of life

  • You personally
  • Your partner
  • Your children
  • Your siblings
  • Your parents
  • Your friends
  • Your loved ones
  • Your neighbours
  • Your colleagues
  • Your boss
  • Your employees
  • Your peers

Then set the date and time as to when you will be saying what you’d like to say.Negative of positive, it’s time to say what you want to say.

Oh and remember that there is never going to be a better time than, today.

And that’s a WRAP for Sun Day the 18th April 2021: Your Day to Shine.

I hope that your day is filled with amazing conversations where you manage to say what you want to say…………..

“I Would like to Do What I’d like to do, for a change.”

Welcome to another edition of “It’s Sun Day: Your Day to Shine”

If you have as much fun, as I did bringing this together, you’re in for a real treat.

The theme for today is: Happiness.

Some people believe that happiness is a destination though it is actually a choice. Each day we can focus on the things that bring us happiness or the things that bring us sorrow.

John Lennon’s quote says it all: “When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment and I told them they didn’t understand life.”

Being happy is not just about feeling good. Research shows that it also makes us healthier, more productive and a much nicer person to be around.

Have fun with this. Enjoy your Sun Day. Be Happy Today and All Days!

Let’s Be HAPPY Now

Happiness relates to how we feel, but it is more than just a passing mood. We are emotional beings and experience a wide range of feelings on a daily basis.

Negative emotions – such as fear and anger – help us to get away from danger or defend ourselves. And positive emotions – such as enjoyment and hope – help us to connect with others and build our capacity to cope when things go wrong.

Living a happy life is not about denying negative emotions or pretending to feel joyful all the time. We all encounter adversity and it’s completely natural for us to feel anger, sadness, frustration and other negative emotions as a result. To suggest otherwise would be to deny part of the human condition.

Happiness is about being able to make the most of the good times – but also to cope effectively with the inevitable bad times, in order to experience the best possible life overall.

And the good news is that Happiness, is infectious.

With this in mind, let’s look at a four easy to introduce ideas that you could start practising today and bring more Happiness into your life…………. and your loved ones!

#1. Smile More

Studies have shown that smiling releases endorphins, natural painkillers, and serotonin. Together these three neurotransmitters make us feel good from head to toe. Not only do these natural chemicals elevate your mood, but they also relax your body and reduce physical pain. Start each day with a simple smile.

#2. Plan a Holiday

Anticipation is a very powerful way for us to boost our endorphins and happiness. One study showed that the effect of vacation anticipation boosted happiness by 27%, whereas, after the vacation, happiness quickly dropped back to baseline levels. To counteract this, always be planning short get-aways.

#3. Practice Gratitude

Study after study have proven that a ‘Gratitude practice’ will increase participants’ happiness and life satisfaction while decreasing depressive symptoms. Have you started your daily Gratitude Practice?

#4. Bring a Positive Attitude

Each day you get to choose the way that you look at things. The more you see the positive in things, the happier you will be.

It really is that simple. Are you ready to let go of past loss and disappointments and begin to focus on you greater well-being?

A Million Little Things

It’s never just one thing, it is a million little things.

It’s all those things that add up as to why you love them. As to why you love hanging out with them and as to why you miss them when they are no longer a part of your life.

Loss is never easy. It does not matter which of the 40+ loss events that have happened in your life it will always come back to all the million little things, that is causing you to grieve and suffer.

Though what if you could do something to avoid the “loss event” from occurring?

Today, I’d like to introduce you to Sarah.

This is not Sarah’s photo, though she does look very similar. Sarah and her husband were going through tough times. They had decided that they would give it one more try to see if they can make their marriage work. Both of them had been tempted by others, though neither of them had broken their vows…… Yet!!

Sarah was introduced to me by a mutual friend and after an initial discovery chat, she decided to embark upon my Gift of Loss 1-2-1 program, even though she kept saying “Though, I have not lost my marriage yet.” To which I answered, “Yet, you both have been tempted by others so lets look at why that is so.”

During the process we discovered that he had stopped “seeing her.” He no longer gave her the compliments or joked or mucked around with her in the same way that he had when they were first married. She knew that things would change after 20+ years, though she always thought that the small things would remain the same.

The million little small reasons as to why they married in the first place. Sarah mentioned that “her masculine temptrest” saw her. He complimented her. He found her interesting and more than anything else they had fun together. The deeper that we walked along “The Gift of Loss pathway”, the more she began to realise that it was not just her husband’s fault, she was as much to blame as he was. She had also started to take him for granted. She had stopped laughing at his jokes. Stopped making that extra special effort and realised that spontaneity had disappeared from their daily life. Sarah was so grateful for the Gift of Loss process. She realised how much she truly did love her husband and also how all the little things add up and make all the difference.

I am happy to share that Sarah and her husband, now, only have eyes for each other.

Sometimes all that is required in any relationship, is a deep dive into what is working and what is not. Taking time to see what you’d like to STOP doing, START doing and KEEP doing. Have you taken the time to deep dive into your “not so ideal” relationships?………………

There are after all “a million little things” to look into.
